The news that Sinclair killed off Tulsa legacy station KTUL in a cost-cutting move is still sending shockwaves through the community.

For decades, the Weatherman at KTUL was a guy named Don Woods.

At the end of each forecast, Woods would draw a cartoon character named “Gusty.”

Woods would then give the drawing away to a viewer. Some would say that Gusty was the biggest star at Channel 8.

Don Woods has passed away, but Gusty made a return one last time.
