Today you posted an article with comments from Sinclair's CEO Chris Ripley where he said "from a regulatory perspective, broadcasting is not in a good position". Let me remind you what he really means when he says that.
Back in 2018, the FCC designated Sinclair's attempted acquisition of Tribune for a hearing, effectively killing the deal, because the FCC said Sinclair had engaged in a "lack of candor" and there were "serious concerns" around the deal. In Sinclair's big-business friendly fantasy land, they think they should have been allowed to buy two stations in the same market, jacking up re-trans rates and merging newsrooms - almost certainly eliminating staff in the process. All employees in the broadcast industry should be counting their lucky stars that Sinclair was not allowed to buy Tribune and that the FCC continues to be unfriendly towards Sinclair's greedy desire to see stations merge at the expense of employees and the public.

"As we looked at our business, it became increasingly clear that from a regulatory perspective, broadcasting is not in a good position,” Ripley told the Baltimore Sun.
In other words, being a extreme conservative company, they are pitching a fit for having to follow rules they view aren't in their favor. Rules that largely have been in existence for decades but suddenly doesn't fit their narrative. Rather than pull a Trump and whine, they should start prepping their stations for sale and move on. They can use the cash to pay down whatever they owe teams for their disastrous Bally Sports entity.
I still cannot forget when Sinclair tried to buy Tribune and almost ended up like RKO-General.

In Nashville the Scripps station is WTVF, home of Phil Williams whom FTV has praised because of his excellent and insightful investigative reporting. The manner in which this station projects its operation is distressing. I am tired of hearing how much they “care” and are “there for me” in ads that show the results of floods, tornadoes, etc. while the news and/or weather staff assure me about Channel 5. I weary of at least one story in every newscast about how they have helped someone or something that is supposed to bring a tear to my eye. The banter between anchors during newscasts is so artificial and staged it creates doubt about the content they do report.
They are not my friends or family; they do not know me personally and never will. At the end of the day it is about money and ratings, and I grow weary when the media tries to manipulate me into having a “relationship” with them.
Just figure out the most important stories and report them without fluff or injecting artificial care.
