The Timeclock Returns to Nexstar

FTVLive FIRST told you that in an effort to pinch more pennies, Nexstar is bringing back the time clock.

It all starts on Monday and here is the latest memo sent to the staff.

As you know, beginning Monday, hourly employees are expected to begin utilizing the check in/check out feature for recording time in Workday.  While we encourage you to utilize the Workday App, you may also check in/out from any computer by signing in to Workday.  Utilizing the Workday App is quicker and easier for you since it can be accessed anywhere with cellular reception.

You can setup the Workday App quickly and easily using the following instructions:

  1. Sign In to Workday.

  2. Click on the cloud icon in the upper right corner of your Workday home page.

  3. Click My Account and Organization ID.

  4. Scan the QR Code, or go to the App Store or Google Play, to download the Workday App and follow the instructions.

  5. Your Organization ID: nexstar

  6. Your network login (username@nexstar.tv) and password will let you access the mobile app.

Recording time will be very similar to what you are used to.  However, your in and out times will automatically be entered for you instead of requiring you to manually enter them.  Please see the attached document for instructions on how to record time.

While time entry will still be available, hourly employees should focus on clocking in/out and use the time entry method only as a backup. Time entry will be going away completely in the very near future (no later than the end of the year), so it is important that you work to adopt the check in/out process as quickly as possible.

Employees may only utilize one method of timekeeping per day. For example, if you forget to clock in then you should utilize the time entry system that day.  If you clock in but forget to clock out, you will need to work with your BA or local HR contact to have your time adjusted.  No matter which method is used, you are expected to account for your time daily.  Employees will receive a notification daily for any day they do not enter time (Note – because schedules are not built into Workday, employees will also receive notifications for days they are not working).  Employees will no longer be able to input work hours for future days (employees will still be able to enter vacation, personal, etc. for future days).

PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO SUBMIT YOUR TIME WEEKLY BY MONDAY AT 3PM CT.

If an employee fails to check in/out, the employee’s manager or the BA will be able to adjust their time for them.  However, repeated failures to clock in/out could result in disciplinary action.

PLEASE NOTE – EMPLOYEES COVERED BY A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT SHOULD CONTINUE TO UTILIZE THE TIME ENTRY PROCESS UNTIL LATER THIS YEAR.

Finally, as stated in the prior email, unless otherwise required, rounding will stop.  This change will take place effective October 22, 2023 (i.e. If you arrive at 7:03, you get credit for arriving at 7:03 not at 7).

 Thank you!
