Tegna has named Kristie Gonzales the new General Manager for WXIA in Atlanta.

Gonzales had been the GM at Tegna’s KVUE in Austin. She has also been Tegna’s Vice president, media operations. She oversees Tegna’s smaller Texas stations, including KBMT/KJAC in Beaumont; KYTX in Tyler, KCEN/KAGS in Waco and Bryan-College Station; KWES in Midland-Odessa; and KXVA/KIDY in Abilene and San Angelo.

Along with the GM in Atlanta, Gonzales will continue her VP of media operations.

“It is a privilege to join and lead the team in Atlanta. My passion is serving our local communities with news and helping clients grow their businesses. I’m excited to get started in Atlanta with a team that’s renowned for their game-changing investigations and award-winning reporting,” Gonzales said.

FTVLive has often pointed out the flaws with Tegna, but we see Gonzales as one of the bright spots at the company. Tegna could certainly use another two dozen just like her.
