Calling Out Nexstar
WKRN (Nashville) Reporter Elizabeth Lane was sent to Florida to cover Hurricane Ian and it seems that her station and corporate parent Nexstar did not bother trying to find the WKRN crew any accommodations here in the Sunshine State.
So, she decided to call the company out on social media and then brag she was able to find a room on her own.
As someone that traveled extensively to breaking news stories, I can tell you that no station or company ever booked a room for me.
I was the one on the ground and I knew the best locations to stay. We were always able to find a place, even if sometimes that place was sleeping in the rental car and it was not a problem.
We also never thought about calling out the company, because they didn’t get us a room at the Four Seasons with a good turn-down service.
I know these kids in TV news want to be handed everything, but sometimes the job of a Journalist Is to fend for themselves and turn in an expense account.
