Sacked in SoCal

FTVLive FIRST told you that Nexstar’s KTLA had parted ways with Anchor Mark Mester.

Mester’s bio went missing from the KTLA website yesterday afternoon and GM Janene Drafs informed the staff that Mester was gone from the station.

Mester made headlines when he raked KTLA management over the coals live during the newscast. Mester was not happy with how the station treated his friend and co-anchor Lynette Romero when she informed management that she was leaving the station.

Many applauded Mester for sticking up for Romero, but many KTLA staffers said it was clear that he violated his services contract with the station.

If the station didn’t let Mester go, it would have sent a message to other staffers that the contracts are not worth the paper they are printed on.

At the same time, viewers might see that there’s a guy that stuck up for his friend and co-worker and the station kicked him to the curb.

The place is “toxic” according to staffers that FTVLive has talked to inside the station.

Mester changed his Twitter bio to take both references and links to KTLA off the bio.

The list of staffers leaving the Nexstar station continues to grow at a dizzying clip.
