Some TV newsies weigh in on what is going down at KTLA and we will share a few takes.

I'll admit that I am a little surprised that Mark did what he did on the Saturday morning news but honestly, bless his heart. He said what needed to be said and he did it without fear of what will happen to him. He mentioned in his talk that he didn't know who wrote the script. We all know who wrote it.. Pete Saiers (Note: FTVLive has heard from a number of KTLA employees that confirm this as well).. and it's good that he heard it. I am surprised though that management didn't step in to stop this earlier. Mark posted on his Instagram on Friday evening that he was going to do this at 8 am on Saturday morning. But again, bless his heart and bless Lynette Romero's heart. I'm sure that he will also have no problem crossing the street to a great station. Things must be pretty bad at KTLA these days which is just so so disappointing.. but the only person to blame for that is Nexstar.

Scott,

Mark did a great thing by putting his job on the line and speak out and give the dignity that Lynette deserved. It may end up costing him his career at KTLA but he seems like a level headed person and displaying such integrity will have him rebound soon if he is canned by KTLA. I hope Renee Washington picks him up if that happens. They seem like a Chuck & Sue kind of pairing.

On Lynette Romero crossing the street: Thank goodness she made a soft landing at a good station. She is one of the best of the best and I would hate to see her leave the business. I can't believe how far KTLA has fallen ever since Nexstar took over, Jason Ball left and Pete Saiers took over. What a mess. The exodus of good talent is astonishing - I think because it's the #2 market and it's a station with a very long and historic past. But I'm happy that Lynette and Christina Pascucci are making the move to new stations and not just going into PR or doing podcasts.

Email:

Good for Mark Mester - if the station couldn't afford to keep her they should've let her say good bye and no retaliate out of anger. Management should be cut asap Mark Mester just saved their ass. Mester could probably get any job in la pr right now.

KTLA sent up a banner on their Saturday morning news for Lynette Romero. I missed the entire segment but Mark Mester posted a little clip to his Instagram. I’m curious what the full segment involved and what management thinks or if they knew about it. Nonetheless pretty cool and certainly well deserved.

Why wasn't anyone in station/news management watching this show? Control room should have immediately been called and told to run promo's, PSA's, whatever until the anchor was told to leave the set and the others told to just do the damn newscast!

Did nobody in the chain of involvement look at this script? Who edited this piece? Were they afraid of the anchor? Lots of questions that should have been asked and dealt with in person within the hour. There should be a lot of ass-chewing, suspensions and a least one firing. This is bush-league BS in the #2 market.

Keep up the good work.

It’s time to change out the News Director at KTLA, he has lost the staff.

And on a completely different subject.

Maybe if this business would pay people they wouldn’t have to sell plasma or clothes.

It’s like to Lions coach said on Hard Knocks in training camp…”today is as good as you will feel.it gets more painful from now on”

Why anyone would go into the J-Biz is beyond me. Yes I’m an old guy who only has a couple more left, but the pay nowadays is abysmal and after dropping at least $150k for a degree? Why would anyone to start at $30k in a place you don’t wanna be.

Of course, I could be wrong.
