Yesterday, FTVLive posted this story about how stations were offered a free trip to the White House to attend the signing of the Inflation Act.
KOAT Reporter Royale Da even included a video on her Instagram of the fancy hotel room that she got to stay in at the taxpayers’ expense.
Some of you decided to give your take on this and we thought we would share a couple with you.

Hi Scott,
I'm a news manager in a Top30, had to weigh in on your article today. First, I can tell you we were also invited to the White House, don't know anything about expenses paid but in any case, we declined to cover what was a self serving media photo op by the Biden Administration weeks before the mid terms.
There was no "news" about this. They're just trying to drum up support in local markets for signing legislation that was simply a formality at this juncture.
We had some upper management meetings and said no way. I know several other stations that also decided not to go. It's just poor optics to play into any White House promotion regardless of party. Stations should be smarter than this.
However, if we sent talent and they gave a social media tour of their hotel room?? are you serious? I looked at her post and "SLAY ALL DAY" she uses? She looks like she's in her 50's and trying to talk like a teenager.
Someone in our newsroom pointed out this was the same woman who posted selfies over dead people. Not sure if that's the same person but shame on the station that allows this women access to social media if this is all true.
But just a big NO on "working so hard" as she said, yet showing us her bathrobe and bed. Just no.
Just my take - thanks for shining a light on stuff that matters. And this stuff does, especially in this political climate.

I work in a medium market, red state, so we didn't get an "invite" to Washington DC. Forget all the issues with that non story. Can't figure out what stations would send a reporter any long distance for that. Did they go for all the legislation that's been signed.? How many times did they send a reporter when a Republican was in office.
Anyway - the ***big issue here is the woman who did a video of her hotel room with the hashtags. Slay all day in DC. highly inappropriate, Slay? It's slang and i know kids use it, but a Journalist standing in the place where people were people suffered major injuires on those streets on Jan 6. She'd be in so much trouble at my station.
Our ND would make her delete her accounts. Our talent isn't allowed to post stupid hashtags, only places and our call letters. You'd think adults on a work account would have common sense.
