Signing Off in Tampa
Another is headed for the exit at Nexstar’s WFLA in Tampa.
Weekend Morning Anchor Evan Donovan is leaving the station after 5 years.
He was also the station’s political reporter, but in his 5 years here, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis never once had the guts to sit down with Donovan to answer questions. “The governor never agreed to a sit-down, which was a disappointment, and I offered many times,” he said.
Donovan says he can’t say where he’s going quite yet, but he’ll remain in the journalism industry. He says will make an announcement in the coming days.
You may wonder why people say that can’t say where they are going?
Well, actually they can say, but it might piss off their new station. Often the job at the new station has internal candidates that think they might be in line for the job. What they don’t know is the job has already been filled and the News Director hasn’t told them.
In the next day or so, the ND will tell these people that didn’t get the job and give the sign to Donovan that he can then announce it.
