Making Her Buyout Her Contract
I don’t want to name the station or the person involved as it involves domestic violence.
There is a talent that works at a Gray TV station in the midwest that is looking top leave the station and break her contract.
The station wants her to pay a penalty for doing so.
Now, in most cases, I agree that when you sign a contract, if you are not going to honor that contract and you want to leave, you should be subject to a penalty. If you don’t like it, don’t sign the contract.
But, this is not “most cases.”
Word is that the person that wants to leave has been a victim of domestic violence. Station insiders tell FTVLive that at one point, the station had a sign on the door with the guy's photo that said "DO NOT LET THIS PERSON IN!” There are also police reports about domestic violence incidents.
Now, the talent is looking to leave and get out of a bad situation.
But, insiders say that she is being told that she needs to pay the penalty to break her deal.
I do have to wonder if the Gray suits in Atlanta are aware of this, as I would believe that they would come to an agreement with the woman and let her walk.
I totally get that people should pay up when they break a contract, but there are some exceptions to the rule.
Right?
