Joining CBS
CBS announced that David Schechter will be the national environmental correspondent and Ash-har Quraishi will be the national consumer correspondent.
The network says that both of these journalists will be part of the CBS News and Stations team at the Company’s recently launched CBS Local News Innovation Lab.
I will be honest, I still am not sure what the CBS local innovation lab is, or how it works.
CBS’s Chad Cross who is the vice president of content development at CBS Stations was the one to announce the news.
CBS has added so many managers with so many different job titles, so again, I’m not sure what the vice president of content development at CBS Stations does?
CBS says that Schechter and Quraishi will report to Cross and be responsible for national-scale stories and longform reporting that will air on CBS-owned stations across the country and CBS Stations’ local news streaming channels. In addition, their reports will be made available to CBS Television Network affiliates via CBS Newspath, the Network’s affiliate news service.
But those aren’t the only ones headed into the “lab".
Cross also announced the hiring of four additional members of the CBS Local News Innovation Lab team: Schechter’s longtime colleague Chance Horner has been named senior photographer, editor and producer; Amy Corral and Haley Rush have been appointed investigative producers; and Jose Sanchez has been named investigative photographer, editor and producer.
As for Horner, he comes to CBS from WFAA in Dallas and according to his senior role with the CBS Local News Innovation Lab, he will set standards and provide direction for advanced photography and editing, including training for CBS Stations’ visual storytellers and advising on equipment and technology.
I don’t know if he will required to wear a lab coat while working in the lab?
