She's Replacing the Slurring Anchor

When WRGB (Albany) Anchor Heather Kovar appeared on the station’s newscast, slurring her words and looking disheveled, it was the last time she would be on air at the Sinclair station.

Kovar said that she had already told the station that she was leaving, but the viral newscast sped things up a bit.

But, it didn’t take long for the station to find a replacement.

Former WNYT Anchor Jacquie Slater will be back on the air in that market, but this time she will be on WRGB.

Slater officially left WNYT back in January after she was demoted and decided not to renew her contract.

Slater says that she is joining the Sinclair station on a part-time contract in which she will anchor weekend mornings.

“I’m happy to jump in and help with the weekend mornings,” says Slater. "It’s a great team of respected journalists and I’m excited to work with them.”
