Does It Really Make Any Difference?
While TV consultants continue to tell stations that they need to be active on social media, do they really?
FTVLive has pulled way back on our social media and it has almost no impact.
We haven’t posted to the FTVLive Facebook page in ages. We don’t post any FTVLive content to Instagram or TikTok and we have cut way back on our posts to Twitter.
To be honest we have seen little difference in the traffic to FTVLive.com.
A TV newsie sent along this take about WCCO in the Twin Cites.
Some may say the value of tweet like this is low.I say it is irrelevant.
I focus on something else...
The WCCO Twitter has 249 thousand followers. That seems like a lot... but it is not the whole story.
Just scroll down and see how many interactions they get per tweet. It appears to be in the single digits per tweet. It does not matter what they tweet... the amount of people that pay attention is irrelevant.
This can not be the only local station where this is the case. It is time to do something new or maybe consider leaving social media all together.
