Replacing the Legends in Motown
Back in February, FTVLive told you legendary longtime WJBK (Detroit) Anchors Huel Perkins and Monica Gayle announced they were both retiring after decades at the station.
The Fox O&O lost both their main anchors at the same time as Perkins and Gayle had been anchoring the news together for 25 years.
Now, sources at Fox Television tell FTVLive that WJBK is this/close to announcing the pairs replacements.
Our source at The Firm says that Hue Perkins will be replaced by Roop Raj. Raj is currently WJBK’s 5PM Anchor and a Reporter at the Motown station.
Word is that Taryn Asher, who co-anchors the 5 with Raj will replace Gayle.
There has been no official announcement from Fox Television or WJBK, but our sources at Fox say It’s coming soon.
We reached out to Raj’s agent Rick Ramage and Asher’s agent Mort Meisner, but haven’t heard back at upload time.
We would reach out to The Firm’s PR people, but they don’t like us very much. Also, this is still supposed to be hush-hush, so don’t say anything.
Okay…
