NBC Chucks Todd to Streaming
In a month, Chuck Todd’s daily show on MSNBC will be out of the lineup.
The network announced that Todd is being moved over to NBC News Now, the network’s streaming service.
Meet the Press NOW, anchored by Todd, will stream at 4 p.m. ET Monday through Friday beginning Monday, June 6.
Chris Jansing will take over Todd’s old time slot on MSNBC.
Also, on the streaming side, NBC announced that senior investigative and consumer correspondent Vicky Nguyen will join NBC News NOW anchor and NBC News correspondent Morgan Radford as co-host of NBC News NOW Live from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on NBC News NOW and NBC News NOW anchor and NBC News correspondent Aaron Gilchrist will begin anchoring NBC News NOW Live from 2 to 4 p.m.
“NBC News is the leader in streaming news,” NBC News President Noah Oppenheim said. “Since our launch, we’ve been committed to delivering the best of NBC News’ journalism, free, to streaming audiences everywhere. Chuck was one of the first broadcast anchors to see the massive potential of streaming and bringing Meet the Press’s daily franchise to NBC News NOW reinforces the platform’s status as the destination for news on streaming.”
If you look at social media, it appears more people “hate-watch” Chuck Todd.
Just about weekly on Twitter the words “Fire Chuck Todd” are seen in the trending section of the platform.
It is also interesting that NBC appears to be trying to beef up the network’s streaming service just days after CNN pulled the plug on theirs.
Is this a promotion or a demotion for Todd?
It depends on who you ask.
We’ll let you guys make up your own mind.
