Welcome to CNN, Despite the Fact We Just Let You Go
CNN has truly become the gang that can’t shoot straight.
The cable news net hired hundreds of people to help launch CNN+, the company’s streaming service. In launched on March 29th and shut down less than a month later.
Millions of dollars were spent on a service that couldn’t even make it 4 weeks.
Sadly, many of those that were hired by CNN were told their services would no longer be needed.
Some of those that were let go were surprised to open up their mail and find a box from CNN, just after being let go.
The box had CNN swag with stuff like CNN logo water bottles, CNN pens, headphones, and popcorn makers some with the CNN+ logo on them.
But it gets worse.
Along with the merch for a service that went belly up, some also contained a welcome to CNN+note. “This is an incredible time to be part of CNN,” the note said to one former staffer that just was let go. “Build relationships and take time to connect with colleagues and learn so that you make the most of your time here.”
CNN told the Wall Street Journal that sending the boxes and notes were a mistake.
