You Can't Fix Stupid....
Yesterday, I posted this story and it was long after I got this email:
“The press secretary said nothing incorrect. They are an ABC affiliate - correct. ABC is owned by Disney - correct. What is the problem here? Stop being such a baby about Disney having to pay taxes.”
Despite the second line explaining that Disney does pay taxes and has been all along, this Einstein can’t figure that out.
By the way, as to how all this is playing out at Walt Disney World?
Yesterday, on a Monday, you could not get into a single park as they were all sold out.
How’s that boycott working out?
Another FTVLive reader makes a solid point;
“….regarding DeSantis’ press secretary, Christina Pushaw, responding to WFTV’s Nick Papantonis- She did move the discussion as too many politicians do. She never addressed any of the issues Papantonis brought up. Rather than dealing with the message, she, like too many officials today, attacked the messenger.”
And here is another take on the same story….
Hey Scott!
Just had to put my two cents in regarding the story of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis showing how much of an absolute enfant terrible he is because Disney is pushing back against his “Don’t Say Gay” legislation, so his office is retaliating by removing their special tax marker even though the company pays the state over $200 million a year in taxes even though they technically don’t have to. How much of a clueless and petulant child do you have to be to tell a company that WILLINGLY puts $200M a year in your pockets that you don’t want the money anymore? This guy WONDERS why the people in AND out of the state don’t want him to be re-elected in 2024, much less coming within a sniff of the Oval Office?
But worse off, his Press Secretary Christina Peshaw (whose last name alone sounds like anything she says should be dismissed immediately and who wants to be a dead ringer for Kayleigh McEnany SO BAD) tries to call out a reporter for WFTV by saying he is paid by Disney to report the story and thusly it’s a conflict of interest. This woman shows her idiocy on 2 points:
WFTV is an ABC Affiliate station due to Cox owning the station, NOT AN ABC/Disney O&O STATION
If a story related to Disney if reported by an ABC O&O, the anchors and/or reporters will usually say something to the effect of “Be advised that Disney is the parent company of (Insert ABC O&O station)”. This is not a conflict of interest for WFTV because Cox Broadcasting owns the station.
Can somebody explain to Ms. Peshaw that one of her duties as Press Secretary is to be, oh I don’t know, MORE in the know which stations that cover her boss and his office are and are not O&Os and would be involved in a possible Conflict of Interest? Her ineptitude is a clear sign why her and her goon boss need to be sent packing next election.
