A YouGov poll asked respondents as to what media outlets they trust?

You have to go down 5 spots before a broadcast network makes the list (CBS) and then you have to dive another 5 spots before you find another broadcast network (ABC).

Not surprisingly, the cable news channels can be found at the bottom of the list.

The bottom line is people do not trust the media. The main reason for this is the cable news channels.

Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN all offer up their opinion and none of them do much when it comes to gathering news and presenting it in an unbiased manner.

This will come as no surprise to people working in TV news. Often when local TV news people are talking with a general viewer, the viewer will make a comment about how you can’t trust the news and how the news media is skewed.

When I talk to people like this, I try to explain that the cable news they watch is very different than the people working in local newsrooms. When you explain it, most of them get it. But, the problem is, before it is explained to them, they just lump you all in with the cable news channels.

I have said it before and will stand by it, the cable news channels have done more to divide this country than anyone else, including the politicians. Also, the cable news channels have made it so people do not trust the media.

If every cable news channel went away tomorrow, our country would be much better off.
