FTVLive told you that MSNBC has basically thrown in the towel on covering the invasion of Ukraine in the overnight hours and is back to airing Dateline reruns.

So what about the broadcast networks?

An FTVLive reader watched the nightly national newscasts (so you don’t have to) on Monday and gave us her take:

“Lester Holt was the only anchor to go live from Ukraine.

NBC and ABC were still going strong with Ukraine coverage at least 18 minutes into their newscasts. CBS was talking about COVID by that point.

CBS had a breaking news-branded banner that said WNBA star Britney Greiner detained. That story broke days ago. They had breaking news branding on pretty much everything.

A newsroom flash cam shot on the CBS Evening News also had what appeared to be several vacant desks in the background. It really does look like their newsroom is pretty empty.”
