No Podium for NBC's Olympic Ratings
I don’t know about you, but so far, I haven’t watched a single second of the Olympics and I don’t expect that to change.
Judging by the ratings so far, it appears I’m not the only one to tune out.
Looking at NBC’s own figures, viewership fell 43% from the Pyeongchang opening ceremonies.
Friday’s opening ceremony on NBC pulled in just 14 million viewers on TV, making it one of the least-viewed opening ceremonies on TV in Olympic history.
On Saturday, just 13.6 million tuned in to watch the games.
In talking to someone that did tune into NBC’s Olympic coverage, they said this, “It feels like you watch just a couple of minutes and they go to another commercial,” the person told FTVLive. “I feel like I’m watching a show of commercials in which they take a short break to throw in some Olympic coverage.”
NBC is paying billions of dollars to the Olympic committee for the right to broadcast the games and I guess they need to pay for it somehow.
