Murdered Reporter Video Turn Into an NFT
When WDBJ Reporter Allison Parker was murdered on live TV, along with Photographer Adam Ward, Parker’s dad Andy has been doing everything he can to get the video scrubbed from the internet.
He has now decided to turn the video of his daughter being killed into an NFT.
Parker transformed the footage into an NFT, offering it up to crypto investors through Rarible, a marketplace for digital art.
An NFT is a unique digital identifier that cannot be reproduced in any way. It's a unit of currency on the blockchain used to certify authenticity and ownership.
Parker said the NFT was part of his latest effort to claim copyright ownership of the footage.
This, Parker explained to the paper, would allow him to sue any websites that host the video.
Parker admits that this "is the Hail Mary — an act of desperation."
The video continues to pop up on websites around the world.
