Man Arrested for Assaulting Reporter

4 days ago, FTVLive told you about a police shootout that went down in Providence in which the suspect was killed.

Now the man that was killed son has been arrested for assaulting a Providence Reporter.

Police say that Joshua Maclean assaulted WJAR reporter Joanna Bouras.

Providence police Cmdr. Thomas Verdi said Maclean yelled and swore at Bouras as she recorded, and that he pushed her with enough force to cause her "to fall into a concrete wall."

Maclean will be charged with simple assault, the officer said.

WJAR News Director Scott Isaacs said Friday that Bouras was not injured in the incident.

But, judging by what the police commander said, I’m assuming that Bouras was working alone on the story when she was assaulted. The officer said, “Maclean yelled and swore at Bouras as she recorded,” which leads me to believe that she was working as a solo MMJ for the Sinclair station.

Which begs the question, if this is how it went down, why are you sending out an MMJ to ask questions of the son of a man killed in a police shootout?

Stations continue putting MMJ’s in situations that can be dangerous.

The safety of your employees must and should be more important than saving a few bucks.

Period.
