Twitter Fight
Seeing adults fight on Twitter is often cringeworthy, to say the least.
KRON (San Francisco) Sports Director Jason Dumas turned some heads in the newsroom when he got into an immature and very public Twitter feud with a Philadelphia writer.
A sportswriter named Kevin Kincaid tweeted something about the James Harden NBA trade news taking a shot at Dumas who regularly tweets about the 76ers.
Dumas responded by quote Tweeting Kevin with a video of The Rock saying “shut up bitch.”
KRON is owned by Nexstar which has a strict “no swearing” policy and while Dumas did not swear, his tweeted meme did and the Nexstar suits might not be cool with that?
Also, a “shut up bitch” meme from a station-branded account doesn’t seem like a professional or appropriate response.
I get the fact that Dumas wants to stand up for himself, but has he ever heard of DMing?
The Twitter fight went back and forth and it was clearly petty on both sides. Also, Dumas reply “please please please speak up if you ever see me” sounds like he wants to fight Kincard after homeroom on the playground.
Several on the news side at KRON are surprised this is allowed, “you’d never see a news anchor or reporter arguing with someone like this on Twitter. It’s petty and embarrassing,” said one station insider to FTVLive.
My advice to you guys is to save the Twitter fights for the high schoolers and just ignore the crap and move on.
If you have a great clap-back, use it and then move on. Engaging someone is not the best play.
