Nexstar to End Live Stream Newscasts
While Nexstar CEO Perry Sook stresses the point of the newsrooms being “digital first” it appears a change is coming.
A sources tells FTVLive that by mid January, Nexstar stations will no longer be live streaming newscasts.
All newscast streams will be delayed by at least 2 hours.
“Word is, this mandate comes from Perry Sook himself. It's all about negotiations with cable providers,” the source says.
Nexstar corporate held a meeting with station digital teams, news directors, and GMs Wednesday to explain the changes.
“It's clear that Nexstar corporate is still scrambling to make the delay happen. The news apps won't have the feature enabled by the time the delay starts,” the source adds.
