Journalists Suspended, then Unsuspended on Twitter
A number of Journalists were up in arms after fellow Journalists were suspended from Twitter by Elon Musk.
Musk continues to change the Twitter rules as he goes along. It is suspending people that seem to take issue with Musk and how he is running the social media platform that he now owns.
Journalists from CNN, NBC, Fox News, and a number of newspapers were kicked off Twitter and told that their accounts were “permanently suspended.”
There is no doubt that billionaire Musk's skin is thin, and he controls the button to kick off the people he thinks are being mean to him or posting information he doesn’t like.
It started when Musk banned an account that tracks his private jet in real-time. The information to track all planes is publicly available on different websites. Journalists that pointed that out on Twitter were also banned.
In April, before Musk owned Twitter, he seemed to feel differently about the people taking shots at him on Twitter.
Once he owned Twitter, clearly he had changed his mind.
As for the Journalists that had their accounts “permanently suspended”, well, they are already back on the platform.
Many of those Journalists that were kicked off Twitter, did not dox Musk’s location. They reported the story and pointed out how real-time information is available.
Elon Musk spent $44 billion dollars to buy Twitter. It appears that he bought the platform just to stop some people from being mean to him.
And guess what?
He can do that. Twitter is a private company and as the owner of a private company, Musk can pretty much make the rules and is doing just that.
The fact that many Journalists are getting so worked up over the fact that this oversized kid is kicking people out of his sandbox is a waste of time. There is real news going on in the world and to put so much focus on Twitter is a waste of time if you ask me.
I like many others, am one of the people that have grown tired of Twitter. Not because of Elon Musk. I started pulling back on Twitter nearly a year ago. The amount of hate and politics directed at people or organizations got to the point where I greatly limited my Twitter time.
I opened an account in Post (Here’s my account), and so far it appears to be much more civil and reading the feed is actually interesting. I have no clue if Post will be the “next thing” and if it’s not, I’ll move on.
I do think that Twitter is certainly losing its luster and my guess is, Twitter is headed down the same path as Facebook. People will use it, but it will not be the “hot” place to spend time.
Some on the right are hailing Musk as a “hero” for what he is doing on Twitter.
He’s not a hero, he’s a rich guy that bought a social media platform and is banning people he doesn’t like and bringing back people he does.
And he has every right to do that, it’s his candy store and he can ban who he wants to ban. If he bans FTVLive, I’ll just move along.
I have nearly 12,000 followers on Twitter and just 80 followers on Post and if I got kicked off either platform, my life would not change one bit.
I drive a Telsa and I love my car, just not right now.
Because right now my Tesla is broken. I wish Elon Musk would focus less on Twitter and more fixing my car, but, I’m fairly sure he really doesn’t care either way.
As I said, he owns the candy store and can do what he wants with it.
