While the Tegna sale to Standard General moves at a snail’s pace toward approval, Standard General got a vote of confidence from the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Jackson sent a letter to the FCC saying that his Rainbow PUSH Coalition is backing the $8.6B deal for Standard General to acquire Tegna.

“I want to take this opportunity to extend my full support of Mr. Soo Kim and Standard General. After meeting with Soo Kim and upon careful and scrupulous review of his record on diversity and inclusion, my team and I wholeheartedly support the purchase of Tegna,” Jackson wrote in the letter.  

The FCC has dragged its heels on this deal.
