Revenue Rises for Scripps and Nexstar
Despite the fact that your boss has likely been telling you that times are tough and we have to pullback on overtime and we can only afford a tiny raise, media companies continue to rake in millions of dollars.
Scripps saw their 3rd quarter revenue climb 14% over last year.
Just in political ads alone, Scripps pulled in over $60 million dollars. Last year that figure was just $7 million.
In retransmission fees, Scripps saw an increased 7.3% to $165 million bucks, all for a signal that they give away free over the air.
Nexstar set a record, pulling in $1.27 billion dollars and was up over 10%. The company made over $640 million bucks in retransmission fees alone.
Despite bringing in double digit percentage increases, why are they telling you that can only give you a 1 1/2% raise?
Might be a good question to ask your boss.
Just saying…
