Now It's Official...
FTVLive FIRST told you that dancing TikTok “anchor” Caroline Collins was headed to Houston and pointed out that KRIV appeared to be the station she was headed to.
Collins made the announcement official on her social media yesterday.
One TV news insider said KRIV had all but hired a strong Latina and bilingual Anchor for that spot. Then last minute changed out.
“Crazy to go from someone who would immediately connect with audience given her background vs a social media sideshow that is more morning show focused. Weird place!” said the TV news executive.
A number of other TV news people emailed FTVLive and asked why would The Firm’s station hire Collins when she makes a fool of herself (and the station) with her social media antics.
“Why would they hire her?” said more than one email.
Here’s the thing, you are assuming that the management at KRIV is solid and looking to hire a top-notch Journalist for the job. Apparently, that is not the case and this is what you get.
Sadly, this is why you see the trust factor for TV news at the lowest point in history. Clearly, KRIV wanted an influencer and not a Journalist.
"In this fast-paced world of digital platforms and on-air broadcasting, Caroline's strong journalistic skills and ability to reach and serve our viewers on whatever platforms they consume news and information will be an asset to our audience,” said KRIV News Director Susan Schiller.
Except, she mainly posts just stupid dancing videos, very few if any have news value. Did Schiller even look at her TikTok?
