We are not a political website, nor do we want to be one. I think most of us would agree that there are more than enough of those.

But, sometimes the two sides collide, like when a news anchor gets so caught up in the QAnon conspiracies that it changes them right before everyone’s eyes.

I thought about not weighing in on Kari Lake’s loss, but the emails started piling up and even some took to Twitter.

For years, Kari Lake seemed like a normal news anchor that presented the news without opinion or bias, until a washed-up reality TV star with an inferiority complex, decided to run for president.

Donald Trump started his campaign and Kari Lake was won over by the narcissistic snake-oil salesman that preached hate and pushed a white nationalist agenda.

He talked about grabbing women “by the pussy” and Kari Lake didn’t care. The old Kari would have stood up for women and denounced Trump for his comments, but the new hard-right Kari thought nothing of these comments.

Trump attacked the media and Kari Lake joined right in. Trump called people names and so did Lake. People called Kari Lake, “Donald Trump in a dress” and she took it as a compliment.

After she quit TV news and decided to run for Governor of Arizona, Lake attacked the media and made sure to push the 2020 election lie that Donald Trump won. She knew it wasn’t true, but she continued to push the lie, thinking that was her path to getting elected.

All the video that came out from the Lake campaign was shot with a soft filter and slightly out of focus. This was done to try and diminish Lake’s hard features and just like Trump, it was a vain attempt to make her appear younger than her age.

FTVLive started covering Lake’s political run long before she started making noise. The hook was that Lake went from a news anchor to a member of the Trump cult. It was a dramatic change.

Lake worked for a Fox O&O, a station that she said she was not proud to work for.

She told the media that she was going to be their worst nightmare for the next 8 years while she was governor.

But then something happened.

She was featured as the lead story on Drudge, no soft filter, just the hard lines of a loser.

Despite having the endorsement from Donald Trump and the My Pillow Dweeb, the people of Arizona saw through the soft filter and saw that Kari Lake was a threat to our democracy and turned her into Lake the loser.

She, along with all the other Trump candidates that pushed the lie of the 2020 election had lost.

Lake’s loss may have been the last stone to fall in the Trump era. The MAGAs have started seeing the light and are jumping off the Trump bandwagon and a fast clip. Only the hardcore remains, but it is not enough to keep Trump relevant.

You might be surprised to know that political leaders on the left were really hoping that Trump would have been the 2024 nominee for President. It would have almost assured that the Democrats would have won the White in 2024, as the anti-Trump vote would have flooded to the polls to cast their ballot for anyone but Trump.

Now, with Trump all but done in everyone’s minds, except Trump’s, it paves the wave for Ron DeSantis or another of the new wave of Republicans to push to the front and almost guarantee a GOP victory in 2024.

Trump announced his 2024 run and even Matt Drudge basically blew it off. MSNBC wisely didn’t cover Trump’s gripe fest/announcement. Of course, Fox News did, and proving that they learned nothing from the last time, so did CNN.

Of course, Lake posted this after Trump announced. I guess, losers got to stick together.

As for Kari Lake, what’s next?

That is a good question, like Trump, it is likely that her political career is over unless she decides to reinvent herself yet again and move from the hard right to just the right. But, does Kari Lake have it in herself to treat people with more respect, not name-call, and let the press do their job?

I don’t think so.

So, don’t be surprised when Kari Lake ends up back in the profession that she bashed for over a year. I look for Lake to sign on at a right-wing network, like NewsMax and maybe Fox News. Although, I think Fox is a bit smarter than that.

She will likely be paid less than she was in her last year at KSAZ, but she will have a line in her contract that requires that she only be shot with a soft filter.

As for the people of Arizona, thanks for looking out for us, we all appreciate it.
