Is It a Newscast, or a Lifestyle Show?

It appears that Gray’s WWSB in Sarasota might be making a change, or maybe they just rebranding to pick up more ad dollars.

The station had been airing a pay-for-play lifestyle show called Suncoast View in the 9 Am hour.

Yesterday, Executive Producer and Host Stephanie Roberts opened the show by saying “this was ABC 7 News at 9 AM.”

The three co-hosts sat on the same sofa and Roberts went into a several-minute long monologue updating viewers on the latest developments following Hurricane Ian.

Has the station switched to a newscast because of the hurricane?

Roberts was hosting the lifestyle show, but now she appears to be acting in the role of news anchor. In addition to her duties at WWSB also works for HSN selling items ranging from skincare products to irrigation systems.

Last week she filled in on the anchor desk as the station provided wall-to-wall coverage of Ian. But, she is still listed on the station’s website as a host.

Has there been a change?

Some viewers are confused.

WWSB is owned by Gray Television and is a secondary ABC affiliate in the Tampa-St Petersburg market.
