WGCL in Atlanta is no more….

The station is once again trying to reinvent themselves and has changed the station’s call letters. WGCL is gone and now the station is known as WANF, which stands for Atlanta News First.

The station is promoting itself as the only locally owned TV station in Atlanta, but there are some semantics involved in making that claim.

WANF is owned by Gray Television which owns station all across the country. Gray is based in Atlanta, so they make the claim that WANF is the only locally owned station. Which means, all of their other stations are owned by some out of town, big corporation. But I don’t think they will promote that.

The only thing that has been consistent at this station for years has been change.

We’ll have to see if this latest change can pick up any traction.
