You Got the Wrong Woman
With the upcoming retirement of Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, the focus of the media is who will take his place?
Joe Biden has said that he wants to appoint a Black woman to SCOTUS and we say it’s about damn time.
Sinclair’s WCIV (Charleston) asked the question on social media, “Could South Carolina judge be first Black woman on U.S. Supreme Court?” But, then the station floats the name of Judge Kentanji Brown Jackson.
Problem is, Jackson is a judge in DC. She was born in DC, raised in Miami, and went to school at Harvard. She might have driven through South Carolina, but she did not practice law or live in the state.
Judge Michelle Childs is a judge in South Carolina and she is also said to be on the shortlist for Biden.
Maybe if WCIV looked a bit deeper they would have gotten this info correct.
Their competitor, WCBD did.
Apparently, WCIV just pasted and copied the start of an AP story and left out any information to match the headline.
