That'll Get your Fired

It seems that Mark Martello could not keep his racist, political comments to himself and it ended up getting him fired.

Martello was calling the play-by-play action for the Montana State/Portland State women’s basketball game.

After a “no-call” Martello decided to get political.

"Portland can get away with whatever they want to get away with. Portland's like Antifa after a riot. They might go to jail but they get out right away,” Martello said during the broadcast.

He also made a reference that compared a Portland player from the South Side of Chicago and said city of Portland is no different.

"Ogele, from Saint Ignatius College (Prep) in Chicago, which is South Side. You've heard of (it)," Martello said on the broadcast. "Portland not much different, I don't think, these days."

The announcer was fired after the game, but if you are looking for an apology, don’t look very hard.

"I am taking responsibility for what came out of my mouth," Martello wrote in a text message to 406mtsports.com on Monday. "I will miss the team and coaches. There will be no apology, no one was harmed."

You would hope that when you tune into a sports event like this college women’s basketball game, it would be free of announcers firing off political takes, but yet, here we are.

Good riddance to this idiot.
