More News Coming to the A-T-L
Many stations that run the Dr. Oz show are seeing a big hole coming to their lineup as the Doctor has decided to run for a Senate seat in Pennsylvania.
This week, FTVLive told you that Hearst-owned KOCO (Oklahoma City) will be replacing the Dr. Oz show with a new newscast that will be running at 11AM.
Now, Gray’s WGCL (Atlanta) says they will also be replacing Dr. Oz with a new newscast. The station announced they are launching a 3PM newscast in the spot where Dr. Oz was running.
Just like KOCO, WGCL’s new newscast will start next week.
It’s good to see TV stations adding more news in place of syndicated programing. As streaming continues to cut into broadcasting viewership, stations that continue to add local programing are the ones that will weather the storm best.
Grow news, add local programing and spend the money to do both at a high level.
This is how TV stations will survive.
