CBS Relaunches Morning Show....Again
CBS has relaunched their morning news show yet again.
It has gone from “CBS This Morning” to “The Early Show” back to “CBS This Morning” and now is just “CBS Mornings.”
CBS was excited to be taking the show to a new location in Times Square. But in watching the new show, there is no view of Times Square from anywhere in their studio and they don't stand outside in Times Square. The only difference is a new logo, some new lights, a new couch, and probably some more expensive real estate.
Looking at social media, most of the comments I read were not about the new show or set, but, where is Anthony Mason?
Mason was demoted to make way for Nate Burleson, CBS’s answer to Micheal Strahan over on GMA.
CBS launched the new show on Tuesday, being the fact that Monday was Labor Day and they obviously didn’t want to bring on a full crew at the time and a half pay.
What’s interesting, the Labor Day is the timeframe in which CBS likes to take the wraps off of something new and try to claw its way out of the ratings basement.
It was 15 years ago, on Labor Day that CBS Evening News was anchored by Katie Couric.
You knew it was doomed when Couric wore white on Labor Day. Everyone knows that’s a no-no.
Here is that newscast, posted by our buddy Chris Sloan:
