News Nation Launches Morning Show

We totally forgot, but Nexstar’s News Nation launched their new morning show yesterday.

Nexstar has been building up to this launch for quite some time and yesterday it went live.

We completely forgot about it and did not see it.

But, one FTVLive reader did watch the first hour of the show and gave us his thoughts on what he saw.

This is what he emailed to us:

-Leland Vittert border crisis report straight out of Republican playbook/Fox News talking points. Using and asking one Texas cop to give his opinions on how to fix situation instead of just giving facts from his on the ground perspective?

Vittert says he will have both sides later, but will he? Will he have fed administration official to respond?

-Adrienne Bankert doing a little dance at desk in transitions to breaks? Is this the “wake up happy” part I was told was happening with this show from the commercials?

A lot of serious news also to not exactly make me feel like I’m waking up happy.

Maybe more dancing will help.

-Adrienne fumbling over a lot of words in reading from prompter….and little ‘ad libs’ she does in and out of stories seem forced and not really cute or clever. She seemed to get better reading as show went on.

-studio doesn’t seem so welcoming or grand for the morning.

-Don’t they need to have more of a fun group of newscasters altogether on the show like they have with Good Morning America or Today?

Anyway, thankfully, he’s watching News Nation so we don’t have to.

After I got the email, I called two Nexstar News Directors to ask them if they watched the show and what they thought?

Both ND’s said they didn’t watch.

We’ll see if we can track down some opening day rantings.

Normally when a new show launches with all the fanfare, you see pretty good numbers, followed by a drop-off in the coming weeks.

It will be interesting to see what the numbers for this show look like?

Nexstar also launched some new shows in the evening, including one from Dan Abrams, we’ll see if we can track down ratings for that as well.
