NBC is happy to report that for the first time in 17 months, the Today Show topped the rating in total viewers for the month of August.
According to Nielsen, Today averaged 3.206 million total viewers, topping GMA by +94,000 (+3%) and leading CBS by +745,000 (+30%).
NBC says in a press release that “The win marks Today’s first across-the-board monthly win since March 2020 and biggest advantage over GMA since the PyeongChang Olympics.”
Interesting, the Olympics were also held in Tokyo in early August.
So, in other words, thanks again to the Olympics, the Today show had a great month.
Now, if NBC could only figure out a way to have a world Olympics each and every month.
