Newscasts Cancelled in Chicago

Sources tell FTVLive that NBCUniversal-owned Telemundo Chicago (WSNS) canceled its 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. editions of Noticiero Telemundo Chicago suddenly this past Sunday (August 1) over an apparent staffing snafu.

The source says that Producer, Writers/Editors, and the Anchor were all shocked when management abruptly told them there wouldn’t be newscasts after the newscast director called in sick and the production boss was unable to secure a replacement from an already small pool of available NABET directors in the Chicago market.

WSNS added weekend editions in 2017 and has since struggled to gain ground on Univision-owned WGBO.  Canceling the 10 p.m. news on a Sunday night certainly can’t help - especially when’s it’s a big Olympics night.
