BREAKING NEWS! New News Boss Named in NYC
We hate to say we told you so (actually we don’t hate it at all) but….
Yesterday, in a Patron only story posted on FTVLive, we FIRST told you that WLS (Chicago) News Director Jennifer Graves sent an internal email to the staff to announced that Assistant News Director, Sarah Burke was leaving the station effective immediately, for “another opportunity”.
In our PATRON ONLY story, FTVLive wrote in part:
“FTVLive thinks and don't be surprised when it is announced that Burke is another one of those ABC people, being poached by CBS.
Ever since CBS boss Wendy McMahon left ABC to head up CBS, she seems to use ABC outlets for her talent pool.
Our guess is that Burke will be named the new News Director at WCBS in New York.”
Well, guess what?
CBS just confirmed what FTVLive FIRST reported (and other blogs stole without attribution) that Bruke is indeed going to be leading the newsroom at WCBS.
“From executive producing coverage of Superstorm Sandy and the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School during her previous stint at CBS New York, to playing a significant role in WBZ’s Peabody Award-winning coverage of the Boston Marathon bombing, an event that took place on her first day on the job, Sarah has demonstrated outstanding leadership, poise and a commitment to delivering high-quality journalism,” WCBS General Manager Green said. “We look forward to welcoming her back to CBS New York, and having her work with our talented news team to drive growth across our broadcast, streaming and digital platforms.”
“It is a personal and professional thrill for me to return to CBS New York,” Burke said. “I have many fond memories of working with the tremendous team at WCBS while we covered important stories. It will be great to reunite with my esteemed colleagues and meet new team members who have come on board since I moved to Boston. I am excited to get started, provide leadership and work collaboratively to create a positive, innovative workplace culture as we all work together to serve the Tri-State area.”
While the others sit and wait for the press release, FTVLive is telling you the news before it happens.
It’s what we do and it is why when it comes to news about TV news. We own this bitch!
