Sources tell FTVLive that Nexstar’s WPIX is getting ready to tack on a new newscast at their New York City station.

Word is that at some point in September, the station is looking to launch “The News at 4.”

No word on if the station is beefing up the staff, but my bet is that despite adding an entirely new newscast to the station’s lineup, that might add a single person to the staff. In other words, the current news staff will be asked to do more work, for the same amount of pay.

What a business….huh?

We also hear that WPIX is adding a Sunday morning NFL pregame show that will air at 11AM and be called “The Blitz.”

Of course, that show is more about bringing in ad dollars and less about football.
