WJAC (Johnstown, PA) News Director Jim Platzer recently received a liver transplant.

One of his best friends donated a portion of his liver to Platzer, who has been WJAC’s news boos for the past decade.

When Matt Schraeder found out that his friend needed to the transplant, he got himself secretly tested to see if he would be a match.

He was and two underwent surgery back in June.

I'm forever in his debt. A 'thank you' can't even begin to tell him how I feel," Platzer said of Schraeder.

"His sacrifice is an inspiration for me to push each day to get stronger, because I don't want it to be wasted," Jim said.
