Expanding News in the Burgh
Hearst-owned WTAE says that they are finally getting around to adding a 4 PM newscast to its lineup.
The new newscast will launch next week on Tuesday.
Let’s go to the soundbites from the suits.
“The addition of this newscast means Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 is better positioned to provide our viewers with extra context of the big stories, breaking news and critical weather information,” WTAE news director Jim Parsons said in a statement. “WTAE Channel 4 has established a talented team of journalists viewers know they can trust to deliver news that is important to their lives each weeknight beginning now at 4:00 p.m.”
“The past year proved Pittsburgh viewers value trustworthy information from their local journalists,” Charles W. Wolfertz III, WTAE’s president and general manager, said in a statement. “Viewers schedules have changed since the pandemic.
“We determined now is a perfect opportunity to provide those viewers with additional time options to watch Pittsburgh’s Action News 4.”
The perfect time is Tuesday at 4 PM, because Monday is a holiday and the suits don’t want to come into work on a holiday for the new launch.
So, it turns out that Tuesday is the “perfect time” to launch.
