Hitting for the Cycle in Pittsburgh
Susan Koeppen was a Consumer Reporter at WTAE in Pittsburgh before crossing the street to anchor at KDKA.
After 9 years at the CBS O&O, Koeppen was part of the company wide cuts that CBS made across the nation.
She was kicked to the curb over a year ago, but she is about to resurface in the Burgh at Cox’s WPXI.
WPXI announced that they are late to the party, but finally plan on launching a 4 PM newscast and Koeppen will front that show.
“This is a great opportunity with a great team of people and I could not be more thrilled to help launch the new 4 p.m. newscast at WPXI,” Koeppen said. “It’s a perfect partnership and I jumped at the chance to be part of this new venture.”
“We have a great team of experienced, dedicated journalists in our newsroom, so adding someone of Susan’s caliber will only make us better,” WPXI News Director Scott Trabandt. “Her passion for telling stories and her love for Western Pennsylvania is immediately evident.
“There’s no question why she has been so successful in this market to this point and we’re excited for her to join the Channel 11 team.”
While WPXI becomes the last station to announce they are doing a 4 PM newscast in the market, former longtime WPXI Reporter Andy Gastmeyer thinks it will hurt the overall product and tax the news staff even more.
