When Did the News Become About Those Reporting It?
Watching the coverage of the building collapse in Surfside, outside of Miami, you see a disturbing trend.
As a Journalist, you are taught to report the story leave your personal feelings out of it and focus on the subject.
This WPLG Reporter was asked to explain why she is wearing a mask at the scene? She says it is about keeping her healthy and safe.
Why did a story in which over a hundred people are missing, become about the person reporting on the story?
Over at WFOR in Miami, Reporter Frances Wang tells viewers that the “part that concerns” her and “breaks my heart the most” is how much worse the news is going to get about the death toll at the collapse.
The story should be about the story, not the person telling the story.
