No More Eyewitness News?
It appears that struggling Scripps station WKBW in Buffalo is thinking about dropping the “Eyewitness News” moniker from the station.
There was a time when WKBW and Eyewitness News were one of the highest-rated news products in the entire country.
But when Granite purchased the station back in the 90’s they took WKBW from first to worst in the ratings and the station has remained in the basement under Scripps.
Now, Scripps is looking at dropping the “Eyewitness News” moniker and hoping to get the station back in the ratings game.
Granite tried dropping the “Eyewitness News” from WKBW back in the 2000s but ended up bringing It back.
Now, Scripps is looking to dropping it as well.
“No decisions yet on any Eyewitness News branding changes,” WKBW GM Marc Jaromin told the Buffalo News. “We are mid-stream with a marketing research project, but I’m not even expecting to even see any results until mid-September at the earliest.”
While Scripps has made the station a much better place to work, the damage that Granite inflicted on the station under the leadership of then GM Bill Ransom is still impacting the station to this day.
Not sure with or without “Eyewitness News” that is going to change.
Just Saying….
