Signing Off in the Burgh

KDKA (Pittsburgh) Anchor/Reporter Paul Martino started at the CBS station back in 1984.

Until recently Martino had been anchoring the station’s weekend newscasts, but and tell me if you have heard this before, he was replaced by someone younger and likely making less money.

Martino was knocked back to GA reporting.

Martino is “retiring” from the station on July 1st.

Rob Owen of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review writes while some of KDKA’s departures have been true retirements, others have not.

Brenda Waters departed KDKA in May 2020. Like Martino, she left after being removed from her role as a long-time weekend anchor at KDKA. Waters relocated from Pittsburgh to Atlanta in January to work for Georgia Public Broadcasting where she covered the Georgia legislative session earlier this year.

KDKA News Director Kathy Hostetter did not respond to a request for comment.
