Snakes O̶n̶ ̶a̶ ̶P̶l̶a̶n̶e̶ in a Park

The Pittsburgh TV stations covered the story like it was a mass shooting.

WPXI had the station’s chopper live streaming the police search from overhead. Burgh Reporters were live from the stream and the story was talked about in all the newscasts and posted online.

As one FTVLive reader who watched the coverage said, “it was such a spectacle and uniquely Pittsburgh.”

Who would have thought that a snake could actually spotted in an outdoor park?

The stations called in Reptile Curator Henry Kacparzyk for his take on the SNAKE IN THE PARK. “It’s the largest species you’ll find here in PA,” Kacparzyk described. “They’re a fairly common snake and given the wildlife, you might find in a park, the common name rat snake indicates it eats mammals of some.”

So, the stations went wall to wall over a snake that is “ fairly common snake and given the wildlife, you might find in a park’?

And to think, some people think the media over-hypes many stories?
