Asheville Producer Dies
The staff at WLOS (Asheville) is mourning the loss of one of their Producers.
Ruby Mayfield passed away and her funeral became a celebration to music. Mayfield was an accomplished saxophone player and a group of musicians showed up at her funeral to play as pallbearers carried her casket.
Ruby was born Reuben. Back in the day, he served in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the 18th Army Band in Fort Devens, Massachusetts, as a sax player. He left the Army 40 years ago and began working for WLOS in the Greenville bureau as a photographer and editor.
Not long after that, Mayfield made the transition to Ruby.
The station did a story on the life of Ruby Mayfield, you can watch it here, but you will have to sit through an ad before the video plays.
Sadly, the Sinclair station seems even using the death of one of their own to make some money is cool with them.
