Nexstar CEO Perry Sook used to say that local news was the most important thing.

But now, Sook says that his passion is building his News Nation into a 24/7 cable news operation.

“It’s my passion project,” Sook says of News Nation. He says that his plans to make News Nation a full-time 24/7 news network will likely take serval years to do, but that is the goal.

Sook made the comments in a video posted by Media Village.

Uncle Parry says that “ratings have been modest out of the gate,” which might be overstating it a bit. By most accounts, the ratings have been awful and the demos have been even worse.

The Media Village interview with Sook can be watched below. The video was posted 5 days ago and has less than 300 views.

To put that in perspective, a couple of days ago FTVLive buried a short clip of a bird photobombing a tower cam in Sacramento and it has over 400 views.

Let’s see if we can’t push Uncle Perry’s video up just a bit.
