Back in March, FTVLive told you that WLS (Chicago) had parted ways with longtime Sports Anchor Mark Giangreco after he joked about WLS Anchor Cheryl Burton as being “ditzy.”

Word is that Burton went to the bosses and was not happy about the comment. Giangreco was suspended and that suspension turned into a firing.

Well, Giangreco is finally breaking his silence, but if you are hoping to hear what led to his firing, you will be left disappointed.

As part of his separation agreement with the ABC O&O, Giangreco can’t talk about his dismissal from the station or what role Burton played in his firing.

Robert Feder reports that starting this week he’ll begin making the rounds of broadcast and podcast interviews with Bob Sirott, Steve Cochran, Jon Greenberg and Jon Zaghloul, among others. “I know what I can and can’t say,” Giangreco said.

The bounced sports anchor did tweet out that he has had lots of support. “The tidal wave of public support along with the backing of everyone in the business both locally and nationally has been so overwhelming and humbling,” he tweeted. “I can’t thank you enough!”
